“Fangs and Magic AU” features characters who appear as supernatural beings that include vampires, lycans (werewolves), naguals (werecats), and witches. These beings possess different abilities and strengths — some that either support or subvert their common legends. Human-hybrids exist (such as dhampirs, half-vampires), and humans can also become fully supernatural through different means.

The setting takes place in an alternate version of modern earth, where supernaturals disguise themselves to live comfortably among humans, after centuries of conflict. However, there still exists a pervading threat of hunters and their organized factions — each who follow varying codes for targeting and eliminating rogue supernaturals.

To avoid the attention of said hunters and further conflicts, supernatural families, covens, and packs enforce guidelines to protect each community — such as seeking consent to drink blood and turn humans, and avoiding the use of dark magic.
